Rigvedi Community

We are a subsect of the Deshastha Brahmins of Maharashtra and Karnataka and our caste name is derived from the Rigveda. Traditionally temple priests, we have also taken up other professions. Some of our surnames include Acharya, Agnihotri, Bavare, Dagaonkar, Dahigaonkar and Deshmukh.
